A Friendsgiving to Remember

A Friendsgiving to Remember

For friends new and old, near and far,

Forever We and the 2016-17 Adventure Club would like to personally

invite you to FRIENDSGIVING!

It’s November 17th at 6:30 at Venue 92 in Woodstock, and we promise it will be an evening to remember. This time of year, it’s usually the grownups who are getting invited to all the fancy shindigs. Kids, this one’s FOR YOU. We’ll celebrate with ice cream sundaes and a hot chocolate bar plus there’ll be a DJ dance party and drawings for door prizes.

We can’t wait to introduce you to our Friendsgiving honoree, brain cancer survivor, Katelyn Fige. She’s faced more than her fair share of battles in just thirteen years, so we’re going to wrap her in a big Forever We hug. She deserves it!

Your attendance allows us to support the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, as well as some other worthy causes–all in the name of Katelyn. Thank you for your generosity. Invite your friends, and join the party of the year!

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Friendsgiving? Friendsgiving is our Adventure Club’s special way to celebrate friendship during this season of gratitude. It’s been a busy fall, and everyone is gearing up for an even crazier holiday season. Friendsgiving is an opportunity to gather together our favorite people and use our gifts to do something good and kind in our community.

Who benefits? Glad you asked! In addition to Katelyn , our Forever We honoree, we’ll be sending dolls and books in her name to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Additionally, we’ve partnered with See Beautiful to send some Forever We love to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Your influence is widespread and far-reaching!

Do I have to live in Cherokee County to attend Friendsgiving? No. In fact, you don’t even have to live in Georgia! We want everyone to be a part of the fun. If you can’t attend in person, you can still support Friendsgiving. We’ll enter everyone who donates to Friendsgiving in a drawing to win some awesome See Beautiful merchandise and a Forever We doll and book. Your support means we get to honor MORE kids with a gift that communicates how much we care.

What is the age requirement for Friendsgiving? The kids who think Forever We is the most awesome are primarily in elementary school (K-5th grade), so we want to see representatives from every elementary school in the county! Girls AND boys will have fun at Friendsgiving–we’ll have superhero capes and masks for the first 75 who come through the doors!

Can parents attend Friendsgiving, too? Of course they can! While our programming is designed for kids, we encourage and welcome their parents. Many friends make for a merry event!

What if I want to help? Did you say you want to help? Perfect! We need ice cream scoopers and hot chocolate pourers and picture takers. If you want to volunteer, we’ll find a place for you! Just let us know!

Last week, I hosted a brunch for my book club. My friend, Melanie, was in town and it seemed like a good excuse to get everybody together. (She wrote an amazing book called It’s Not Fair: Learning to Love the Life You Didn’t Choose). The next day as I chatted with my friend, Nicole, she said, “Didn’t you just love hearing everyone laugh around your table yesterday?” And I thought, yes, I did love that. I loved the sound of conversations, of friendships being forged, and everyone just enjoying each other. My heart is happy and full.

I guess that’s why I love Friendsgiving so much.

We get to kick off the giving season with the people we love most. And it’s all laughter and food and fun and most of all–it’s about generosity. Forever We is a reality because some kids simply asked, “What can we do? How can we help?”

And we answered together, “Let’s do this thing!”

Please call us at (404) 324-1833 or email hello@foreverwe.org to volunteer or to ask questions about the event.
